son of dish rag tag results

So I did my first knitting relay! It was Son of Dish Rag Tag, put together by the wonderful Emily of YarnMiracle. By complete beginner's luck, I was placed on a speedy, friendly, funny team - Chronicles of Yarnia - and we finished second out of 20 teams! And if that weren't enough, I also got swag courtesy of Dorothy.

She did also send some salt water taffy, but I scarfed it before I got the photo. Oops! *om nom* Then, I made the same cloth in pink and sent it on its way.

It was even more fun than expected and I may do it again next year.

it's official - the cat likes the afghan

I completed another afghan square today - nice to have some time off. The cat inspected and approved it, as you can see from the photos.

Waiting somewhat patiently for the "dish rag tag" box to arrive. Maybe it will get here Friday or Saturday - that would give me the best chance for a quick turnaround.

perdita bracelet - bluebell

Last night, I also finished up my Perdita bracelet. I made the bluebell version of the pattern from Knitty.

Knitting at this small a gauge (I used size 1 DPNs, but basically used them like straights) is more fiddly than I would have thought. I ran out of the floss I was using and was unable to precisely match the color, so the last repeat of the pattern is slightly lighter. The lighter floss was also better quality - wish I had started with three little skeins of that instead of switching. But the end product still looks OK.

Oh well, not everything turns out as planned, right? That's what keeps life interesting. One thing that I am happy with is the buttons. More "making of Perdita" photos here if you are interested.

This morning I started the next afghan square - basketweave. So that should be easy enough. And I stopped at the craft store on my way home from work to get the things I need for dish rag tag. Sign-ups end at midnight tonight!

six-stitch cable square

Just finished the six-stitch cable square for the sampler afghan I'm making (pattern from Leisure Arts' Sampler Afghans book).

This was my first cabled project and I really enjoyed it. I love the appearance and warmth of cables. Definitely looking forward to trying some of the other cable patterns in the book.

The six-stitch cable square is my fourth of 20 squares needed to complete the afghan. You can view the first three on my Flickr page, tagged with "samplerafghan".

welcome

Hi, welcome to my knitting blog. I've been knitting since February and have rapidly become a little bit obsessed.

Now I will go find some widgets to add to the sidebar, so you know who I am on a few other sites.
